The Miami Dolphins, ahead of their Week 7 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, are making a switch to their quarterback room. Tua Tagovailoa is still the starter, but his backup is now a different player after just six weeks.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Dolphins are making a change to their quarterback depth chart. While Tagovailoa has played throughout the year, his backup will now be a new face, as Mike McDaniel and the Dolphins are making a change.
With the Dolphins traveling to Cleveland for what's shaping up to be a windy and wet game, they are switching up their backup quarterback. Zach Wilson is now the third quarterback, as rookie seventh-rounder Quinn Ewers is the backup in Miami.

"The Dolphins are making a change to their QB depth chart for today's game, as Quinn Ewers will serve as the backup to Tua Tagovailoa for their matchup against the Browns, per the insiders," Rapoport reports. "This is the first game active for the rookie seventh-rounder."

Ewers is now the Dolphins' backup, with Wilson taking a backseat to the 2025 draft pick. Miami is making this switch ahead of their Week 7 matchup, and with the poor weather at play, Ewers could have a very interesting NFL debut if he gets thrust into the lineup.
During the preseason, Ewers went 23 of 43 for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He didn't throw an interception or fumble the football, and took four sacks for 23 yards lost.
Wilson, in comparison, went 29 of 45 for 327 yards and one touchdown with seven sacks taken, while also not turning the ball over in his playing time this season.
Ewers played his final collegiate year at Texas, and the Longhorns quarterback threw for 3,472 passing yards and 31 touchdowns with 12 interceptions, leading the SEC in touchdowns and interceptions.
Wilson, whom Miami signed to a $6 million deal in the offseason, is now inactive as the Dolphins are shaking up their quarterback room. Ewers is the new backup to Tagovailoa, being active for the first time in his NFL career, and one step closer to his NFL debut.
