If there was one glaring issue coming into the 2025 season for the Miami Dolphins, it was their lackluster cornerback room. While they continued to suffer injuries all year long, one player emerged as a massive steal in free agency.

Veteran cornerback, formerly with the Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Green Bay Packers, Rasul Douglas, was an incredible addition for the Dolphins.

And according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, with Douglas now a free agent, the Dolphins have a strong chance at being able to re-sign the veteran to a new deal this offseason.

"Chase of re-signing the 31-year-old appear strong," Fowler writes, "though Miami could go younger in spots of the defensive backfield and will have a new general manager soon."

Miami has plenty of reason to bring Douglas back, as the 31-year-old cornerback had a great season for the Dolphins despite signing just a $1.57 million deal.

He recorded 62 tackles, 11 pass deflections, and two interceptions this past season. On such a cheap one-year deal, his production was a steal for Miami.

The Dolphins need to make a lot of other decisions this offseason, with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and wide receiver Tyreek Hill high on the list of priorities this offseason.

But, if the new general manager likes what he saw from Douglas in 2025, and what's there not to like, then Miami and the veteran cornerback could reunite this offseason, as the chances of such a deal appear to be "strong" according to an NFL insider.

There's no guarantee he comes back, but with a strong interest in a reunion and a need at the cornerback spot, another one or two-year deal could make a lot of sense for Miami and Douglas.
