The Miami Dolphins are in the middle of a strange season. After a brutal start and Chris Grier's firing, Miek McDaniel and the Dolphins have rattled off some key wins to not only keep their playoff hopes alive but potentially save McDaniel's job.

For Miami, the most important thing beyond this season is figuring out what to do with the roster. Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane weren't traded despite rumors this deadline, and Tua Tagovailoa is locked in for at least one more season. But what about Tyreek Hill?

Thanks to Mel Kiper of ESPN's analysis of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Dolphins have a good reason to move on from Hill this offseason. Kiper highlighted the greatness of this draft class for wide receivers, highlighting how it's a great time to need a wide receiver.

Why Dolphins should cut ties with Tyreek Hill

When the question of "Is it a good year to need a WR?" Was asked to Kiper, he responded strongly with, "Oh, yes. It's the strongest position of an otherwise not-great class."

Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State, Carnell Tate out of Ohio State, and Makai Lemon out of USC are all intriguing first-round options. With the Dolphins' first-round pick likely somewhat in the middle of the first round, they could miss out on the top options.

But, just a little down the board, there are some quality options. Denzel Boston of Washington, Zachariah Branch of Georgia, Chris Bell of Louisville, and Germie Bernard of Alabama are all potential first-rounders.

There are also plenty of other options in the second round and later, with KC Concepcion of Texas A&M, Bryce Lance of North Dakota State, Ja'Kobi Lane of USC, and Chris Brazzell II of Tennessee, some Day 2 and 3 options in the 2026 NFL Draft.

While Miami needs to bolster their offensive and defensive lines, along with adding talent in the defensive backfield, wide receiver, if Hill isn't on the team (which seems likely) is a big need.

Now is a great time to need a wide receiver, and Miami, if Hill is cut or traded, would be in the market. Instead of spending a ton on a free agent, Miami could take one of these top receivers in the 2026 NFL Draft.
