The Miami Dolphins have been floated as a potential landing spot for Lamar Jackson, but many seem to be forgetting one important aspect.
Jackson has a no-trade clause.
Andrew Buller-Russ of Sportsnaut recently connected the two sides but also added why the situation is more complicated than what people seem to think.
“Jackson has a no-trade clause, so if the Ravens are exactly where he wants to be, then Baltimore has no choice but to keep him. However, if Jackson is interested in playing elsewhere, his heart just might be back home in Miami.
“If the Dolphins keep Mike McDaniel, then Jackson would be joining a bright offensive mind armed with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Darren Waller (who would have to sign another contract). Plus, could you imagine how tough it would be for defenses to stop a dual-threat backfield consisting of speed threats like Jackson and De’Von Achane? Good luck keeping up,” he wrote.
After benching Tua Tagovailoa, it feels very safe to say that the Dolphins would love Jackson.
Pairing his skill set with McDaniel’s offensive mind would be exciting to watch.
Still, the no-trade clause is a big deal. If Jackson is content in Baltimore, the Ravens don’t have a decision to make. We also have to factor in the unlikelihood of the Ravens ever wanting to trade him.
