The Miami Dolphins have a lot of work to do this offseason, and their first task was to bring in a new general manager. Jon-Eric Sullivan, the former Green Bay Packers executive, joined as the new Dolphins general manager.
And while he'll have plenty of work to do with the roster in the coming months, the first order of business for the Dolphins was to hire Mike McDaniel's replacement.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, they have made their final decision. The Dolphins are doubling down on former Packers for their leadership structure, bringing in defensive coordinator Jeff Halley to be their new head coach.
Dolphins double-down on Packers for GM, HC roles
"ESPN Sources: Dolphins are hiring former Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their head coach," Schefter announced. "Hafley completed his second interview with the team today and will be their new head coach."
Hafley is joining the Dolphins as their new head coach after a successful stint wit hthe Packers defense. While Green Bay couldn't make it past the Wild Card this year or last year, they were one of the better defenses in the league.
His production with the players on the field in Green Bay is what garnered him some interest as a head coaching hire; this hire is more than just how great a defense he called in Green Bay.
Sullivan and Halfley are close, and this pairing will make the Dolphins' transition into the future a lot smoother. There won't be a rift between the head coach and general manager, as they've already worked together before.
Being on the same page will be huge for the Dolphins, as the moves coming in the next year or so will be instrumental in turning the page in the Dolphins' history.

This is a quality hire for both the on-field purposes and the chemistry he will have with the general manager. While there was hope of John Harbaugh or Kevin Stefanksi, the Sullivan and Hafley duo is a good way to turn the Dolphins around.
Hafley has head coaching experience before, being the head coach at Boston College before he became the Packers' defensive coordinator for the last two seasons.
Now, he's coming to Miami to lead the Dolphins into the future alongside former Packers executive Jon-Eric Sullivan.
Becoming the Packers of the South would be a dream scenario, as constant playoff appearances and Super Bowl-contending years could be in store in the future.
