Although the Miami Dolphins' season has not gone the way they would have hoped, that did not stop running back De'Von Achane from collecting his first Pro Bowl appearance in his career.
It was officially announced on Wednesday that the third-year back will participate in the Pro Bowl Games after having by far the best season of his young career.
Through 15 games, Achane has rushed for 1,267 yards, which is the third-best in the league, eight touchdowns, and ranks first in average yards per carry with 5.8 among running backs. Other Pro Bowlers James Cook III and Jahmyr Gibbs were the closest behind Achane with 5.3.
Achane doesn't just impact the game with his rushing; he also contributes in the passing game, with 64 receptions for 459 yards and four touchdowns, making him a valuable asset and a primary reason he is going to the Pro Bowl.
"It's something that I grew up watching, when I was a kid...so for me this will be my first time, and I'm excited about it," Achane said when asked about how he felt about receiving Pro Bowl honors.
A massive accomplishment like this could play into the former Aggie this offseason, as Achane is still currently on his rookie contract and may be due for a large extension, or it can make him a big trade target for contenders in the near future.
The Dolphins have a few other things to address soon, such as the future of their head coach, Mike McDaniel, and what the next move at quarterback will be with the departure of Tua Tagovailoa appearing very likely.
