The Miami Dolphins will be adding running back De'Von Achane to the injury report this week.

According to Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, Achane will be on the Week 15 injury report due to a rib issue he suffered in Week 14.

Achane picked up the injury during the contest and did not return, although he did say he could've gotten back into the game if it was closer.

Miami absolutely crushed the New York Jets in Week 14, 34-10, so there was no point sending Achane back out there.

"It'll be a gradual increase in activity and physicality," McDaniel said of Achane's participation in practice this week, per David Furones of the Sun Sentinel.

There are a few positives to take away from this despite the obvious concern about Achane being on the injury report.

For starters, the fact he's starting off with a limited session is a good sign he is more likely to suit up than not. Adding to that, with the Dolphins playing on Monday, the star running back has an extra day to get right.

For now, we fully expect Achane to suit up in Week 15, but his status obviously bears monitoring regardless of what we think.

Achane's status is important for a few reasons, with one of them being the Dolphins' position in the playoff race.

While Miami still faces a very steep climb as it continues to climb out of the hole it dug for itself earlier in the season, the Dolphins are not mathematically eliminated yet, so we're saying there's a chance.

Achane's status is also important because the fantasy football playoffs start in the vast majority of leagues this week and the Dolphins running back has been an elite option for fantasy owners throughout the season.

Entering Week 15, Achane ranks as RB4 overall, which makes him a must-start player each and every week.

Who is De'Von Achane's handcuff?

If Achane does not end up playing, the Dolphins will likely utilize Ollie Gordon as their lead back. Gordon has served as the clear-cut No. 2 back this season and has jumped second-year rusher Jaylen Wright on the depth chart.

Wright did have 24 carries after Achane's exit last week, but a lot of those came in garbage time. When games have been close, Gordon has clearly been the go-to second option for the Dolphins at running back all season long.
