The Miami Dolphins are hoping this is the week that tight end Darren Waller makes his return to the field.

Waller has appeared in just four games this season after coming out of retirement. After missing the first three games, Waller made his Dolphins debut in Week 4.

However, Waller came down with a pectoral injury in Week 7 that forced his early exit from the game and later landed him on injured reserve.

He has since been designated to return from IR this past week and he was even activated off the list on Saturday.

Despite all that, he is still s porting the questionable tag. Here's what we know about his status for the Week 13 game against the New Orleans Saints.

Is Darren Waller playing today?

While there hasn't been any reporting on Waller's playing status for Week 13, we can assume that the veteran is going to suit up.

After all, the Dolphins wouldn't have activated him off injured reserve if they didn't think he was going to play. We'll still be keeping an eye out for the inactives, but it would be surprising if Waller doesn't suit up.

Over the four games he has played this season, Waller ranked as TE10 overall in that span, but touchdowns were largely responsible for his impressive output, as Waller scored four total over three of those contests but tallied 27 yards or less three times.

The Saints are a pretty middle-of-the-road matchup for tight ends, with New Orleans ceding the 14th-most fantasy points per game to the position.

A big concern this week is Waller might not see a full complement of snaps after having missed so much time. Add in the fact that he's touchdown-dependent and you're staring at a risky play in Week 13.

However, with the pool being so shallow at the tight end position, there is justification for starting the veteran.

Verdict: Start
