Will Puka Nacua play in Week 10? Latest injury update on Rams star wide receiver image

The Los Angeles Rams, their fans and fantasy football owners held their collective breath last Sunday when star wide receiver Puka Nacua went down with an injury.

Nacua suffered the injury in the third quarter of the Week 9 game against the New Orleans Saints after getting a carry and it was later diagnosed as a chest issue.

Nacua emerged from the locker room and looked like he might get back into the game, but with the Rams up big it made no sense to risk it.

Now, we turn the page to Week 10 to see if Nacua will suit up against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Here's what we know.

Will Puka Nacua play in Week 10?

THURSDAY UPDATE: Nacua logged a full practice on Thursday after putting in a limited session on Wednesday. He is fully on track to play in Week 10.

UPDATE: Fantastic news for Nacua, as head coach Sean McVay told reporters he expects the star wide receiver to play in Week 10.

"Rams HC McVay Sean McVay told reporters that WR Puka Nacua should be good to play Sunday vs. The 49ers despite his rib injury," ESPN's Adam Schefter relayed.

END OF UPDATE

There is no definitive answer to this question, but based on comments by head coach Sean McVay, it appears there's a good chance Nacua will play.

“Puka’s good. I think he’s going to be good,” McVay said of his star wideout. “He got his ribs. He could’ve come back in the game, but we kind of had command. Felt like it was the smart thing. He could’ve come back in, but we erred on the side of caution."

Despite McVay's optimism, Nacua still had scans to check out his ribs, although we don't have the results of those scans, at least not publicly. That silence might indicate everything checked out fine.

The Rams will release their first injury report on Wednesday, so we'll know more then.

Just in case you're mad at McVay for having his best wide receiver carry the ball like a running back, just know that the Rams head coach i sn't happy with himself, either.

“I feel sick. That fourth-down situation where he’s getting kind of a side shot and he's so good at that, and that's such an important situation. You're saying, ‘Damn. You leave him susceptible to a great player pursuing from an inside-out location that gives him a good shot.’ That’s not anything on him," McVay said. "That's more on the playcall. Unfortunately, you're like, ‘Man, I feel like this is the best chance to be able to get us a yard because of what a stud he is and the structure we were anticipating.’ I'm hopeful that he will be all right.”

If Nacua doesn't suit up, Davante Adams becomes a must start in fantasy football. But we would not rely on any other Rams wideout after Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell were miserably disappointing the last time Nacua was sidelined.
