The Los Angeles Rams will take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 16 in what is a hugely important battle, but the Rams might not have star wide receiver Davante Adams available for the contest.

That's because Adams re-aggravated the hamstring injury he was on the injury report with last week during the Week 15 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Adams suffered the injury in the fourth quarter while running a route, forcing his early exit from the game.

It's bad enough that Adams has seemingly made an existing injury worse, but now he has to get ready on a short week, with the Seahawks and Rams playing on Thursday night.

Here's what we know about Adams' chances of suiting up.

Davante Adams injury update

Rams head coach Sean McVay confirmed that Adams' hamstring injury is to the same one he has been dealing with recently.

The next update for Adams will come on Monday, when the Rams drop their first injury report, which will be an estimation.

However, we would not expect any practice participation from Adams to start the week, and it's probably asking too much for him to practice at all this week.

We would say Adams is far more likely to sit than play.

While McVay said that Adams is optimistic about his chances of being ready by Thursday, the Rams head coach isn't as optimistic.

"I can't imagine that's good for Thursday with just the short amount of time, but I certainly wouldn't rule him out quite yet. But it didn't look good," McVay said, according to ESPN's Sarah Barshop.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had an even more grim update, saying that it's possible Adams might not be back before the playoffs start.

"With any injury, but certainly a hamstring injury, hard to imagine he is out there Thursday night against Seattle," Rapoport said of Adams.

"There are only a couple types of injuries this time of year: there's an injury where a guy is fine, there's an injury where he's back for the playoffs, and then he's done," Rapoport added. "The hope is that this is one of those he's back for the playoffs."

That timeline is the last thing the Rams want to hear given their tight races in the NFC West and conference playoff picture.

As for fantasy football owners who are still alive in their playoffs, start making other plans with Adams unlikely to play.
