Rams made perfect move to contend for a Super Bowl once more with Matthew Stafford image

The Los Angeles Rams will be in contention in every football game they play in as long as Matthew Stafford is their quarterback.

This offseason, they made one move in particular that could legitimately push them back toward Super Bowl contention.

Yahoo's Matt Harmon recently praised the Rams' offseason signing of Davante Adams. Sure, that's not a hard move to praise, but his logic gives L.A. fans a lot of hope.

"This really brings, for the first time in a minute, a true X receiver to this team," Harmon said. "The last time they had a guy playing that role effectively was Odell Beckham during the Super Bowl run."

Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp didn't have overlapping skillsets, but they were more similar than Nacua and Adams are.

Adams moves on from a career following Aaron Rodgers around to catch passes from the still strong-armed Stafford.

"There is going to be a large majority of the snaps this year where Davante Adams, again, is on Matthew Stafford's backside, he's along the boundary, he's just truly a pure X receiver there in the truest sense of the form," Harmon said. "And I think we saw enough last year from Davante in isolation, he might not be peak Davante Adams, but he is definitely a guy who can still get open against press man coverage, which was a skillset that this team desperately needed, it's why they moved on from Cooper Kupp."

Los Angeles would gladly welcome another run to the Super Bowl.

The contention window may be closing with Stafford (and Adams) aging, but they can still give it a go this season. And the passing game might be strong enough to do it.
