The Los Angeles Rams have had some serious struggles this year in the kicking game.
Joshua Karty has missed eight kicks so far in 2025, the most by any kicker in the league by a wide margin. It forced Los Angeles to sign Harrison Mevis, affectionately known as "the Thiccer Kicker," as insurance at the position.
Melvis isn't just insurance, though. Head coach Sean McVay announced on Friday that Mevis will be the team's kicker when they take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

'The Thiccer Kicker' gets his first shot in the NFL
ESPN's Adam Schefter was first on the news.
"The Rams kicker Sunday vs. The 49ers will be Harrison Mevis. Joshua Karty has been the Rams kicker but he has missed more field goal and extra point attempts this season than any kicker in the league," Schefter wrote in a post on X.
Mevis, who stands at 6-foot and 242 pounds, will get an audition to be the Rams' kicker for the rest of the season.
The former Missouri Tiger has bounced around both the UFL and NFL since graduating in 2023. He's spent time with the Carolina Panthers, New York Jets and now the Rams.
Mevis was with the UFL's Birmingham Stallions in 2024, drilling 20 of his 21 attempts for the eventual champions.
The "Thiccer Kicker" will hope to find a permanent home with Los Angeles, and his first test begins on Sunday against the divisional rival Rams.
