The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a tough loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 13. While they lost 31-28, the offense was still moving the ball incredibly well all game long.

If it weren't for three Matthew Stafford turnovers, Los Angeles might've come out with the win. In the loss, both Kyren Williams and Blake Corum showed out. They each scored a rushing touchdown, and the split backfield seemed to work.

When asked by ESPN's Dan Graziano about this split backfield, offensive coordinator Mike LaFluer revealed the team's plan with Williams and Corum for the rest of the season.

Rams offensive coordinator reveals RB plan for Blake Corum, Kyren Williams

"LaFluer told me he thinks they've been seeing the best version of Williams because he's fresher and not being asked to carry as much of the load, and the Rams have their sights set on January and February games and want everyone as fresh as possible," Graziano writes.

With the Rams' sights set on the NFL playoffs and a potential Super Bowl berth, divvying out the backfield work is the best path forward to keep both running backs healthy and fresh for winter football.

Against the Panthers, Corum ran the ball seven times for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Williams ran the ball 13 times for 72 yards and a touchdown, despite leaving the game with an ankle injury for some time.

This split backfield has worked great for the Rams, as Williams has 868 yards rushing and seven touchdowns on 183 carries, while Corum has 422 yards and two touchdowns on 89 carries this season.

Having both running backs wear down the defense is a good way to effectively run the ball. And if one were to emerge as the hot hand that week, then the Rams coaches could feed him more work.

But, based on LaFleur's comments, the Rams plan to continue this split backfield for the rest of the season and even into the playoffs.

Having fresh legs should help the Rams' ground game as the calendar turns to 2026, as both Kyren Williams and Blake Corum look set to continue splitting the backfield work for the remainder of the 2025 NFL season.
