The Los Angeles Rams somehow lost on Thursday Night Football, but Matthew Stafford still had a remarkable night at the office.
The MVP-contending quarterback threw for 457 yards, including 225 to star wideout Puka Nacua.
In the process, Stafford moved up an all-time NFL leaderboard. He now ranks No. 7 in passing yardage in NFL history.
Who'd he pass? Philip Rivers.
That's right, the guy who just came back for the Colts.
Stafford now has 63,988 passing yards in his NFL career.
The 44-year old Rivers has 63,560.
MORE: Puka Nacua's night broke the fantasy football playoffs
Given that Rivers threw for only 120 yards in his first Colts outing, it seems unlikely he'd get the 329 needed to move back past Stafford when Indianapolis takes on the 49ers on Monday night.
Stafford is closing in on another step up the ladder, too. He needs 101 yards to move past Ben Roethlisberger and rank sixth in league history.
For his entire career, Stafford has been one of the league's most prolific passers, from the days when he didn't have enough help with the Detroit Lions to these days with the Rams, where he's a Super Bowl champion and now chasing the MVP.
He'll keep slinging it until the day he decides to hang up his cleats.
