The Los Angeles Rams lost to the Atlanta Falcons in a brutal Monday Night meeting in Week 17. While the Rams couldn't win the NFC West entering this matchup, securing the 5th seed versus the 6th seed would be a big deal.

Amid this tough loss, Stafford had one of the worst games of his 2025 season. The top MVP candidate threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown.

As Yahoo Sports shared, this pick-six from Stafford was his 32nd in his NFL career, which ties him with Brett Favre for the most pick-sixes by a quarterback in NFL history.

Matthew Stafford joins Brett Favre in NFL pick-six history

Stafford's 32nd career pick-six was an overthrow right into the waiting hands of safety Jessie Bates. He returned it 34 yards for a touchdown, putting the Falcons up 14-0, and further pitting Stafford's MVP case at risk.

Two drives later, Stafford threw another interception, this time on a deep ball that Xavier Watts made a great play on. He was downed at the Falcons' seven-yard line.

Stafford's third and final pick was nearly a pick-six, as Watts jumped another throw, this time on fourth down, and nearly returned it the distance if he didn't step out and a penalty wasn't called on the return.

Fortunately for Stafford, that near pick-six didn't happen; otherwise, he'd be alone in NFL history for the quarterback who's thrown the most pick-sixes.

He's currently tied with Favre, who had 32 interceptions returned for a touchdown on the NFL record 336 career interceptions.

Stafford, in comparison, has 32 career pick-sixes on 196 career interceptions. While the interceptions themselves aren't bad luck, Stafford throwing 32 pick-sixes on significantly fewer interceptions than Favre is bad luck.

Stafford has 144 fewer interceptions than Favre, but has the same number of interceptions taken back for touchdowns. 16 percent of Stafford's interceptions have been returned for touchdowns, while just 9.5 percent of Favre's were returned for touchdowns.

The 11-5 Rams have struggled lately, and Stafford, with two pick-sixes thrown in his last five games, both coming in losses to NFC South teams, tied Favre for the most interceptions returned for a touchdown in NFL history.
