Rams get Chris Shula update on Titans head coaching search image

The Los Angeles Rams are in the middle of a heated NFC West division race, and in turn, a race for the top seed in the NFC as a whole. Their Thursday Night Football loss to the Seattle Seahawks was a tough blow, as they're not the favorites for the West anymore.

In the wake of that tough loss, the Rams are looking to close out the regular season with a strong finish against the Atlanta Falcons and the Arizona Cardinals. Chris Shula's defense should be able to shut both offenses down as they seek a strong close to 2025.

With Shula, who's having a solid year for the Rams as their defensive coordinator, he's drawing some head coaching buzz. According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, the Rams' DC is expected to get an interview for the Tennessee Titans head coaching job.

Rams' Chris Shula expected to have interview for Titans HC job

"Defensive coordinators like Jeff Hafley (Packers), Chris Shula (Rams), and Jesse Minter (Chargers) have been expected to get interview slips as well, according to sources," Jones reports.

The Rams' defensive coordinator isn't just drawing simple interest for a head coaching job. This report reveals that Shula is poised for an interview for the Titans' job.

He cannot take this interview until the Rams' season is over, and if they make the Super Bowl or go on a deep playoff run, then Shula's chances for this job might dwindle.

But, no matter what ends up happening, the Rams are facing a potential loss of their defensive coordinator from the last two seasons.

Shula has improved the defense from the 2024 season in 2025. Last year, they were 26th in yards allowed, and this season, they've improved to 16th. For points allowed, the Rams went from 17th to 6th this season.

The Rams are much better this season than last, and while Matthew Stafford and his MVP case are drawing a lot of attention, the Rams' defensive coordinator is a big reason for their success this season.

If it weren't for a very struggling special teams unit, the Rams might've been in a much better spot. But the Rams are still a strong contender, and if they get some help from a few teams, the Rams could find a way to the NFC's number one seed.

Shula could wind up being the Titans' new head coach, as he's reportedly set to get an interview for the Titans' job. With how great the Rams' defense has played this season, it's hardly a surprise.
