The Los Angeles Rams were plays away from making it to the NFC Championship Game in the 2024 season, and likely would have been able to defeat the Washington Commanders to advance to the Super Bowl. Alas, the Philadelphia Eagles held on and ended up winning the Super Bowl, but the Rams have improved. They signed former All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to go along with Puka Nacua and Matthew Stafford in the passing game.
Speaking of No. 9, Cody Benjamin of CBS went through and named the biggest worries for contending teams entering the 2025 season, and Stafford's age was highlighted as a worry for the Rams.
"Age is just a number, they say," Benjamin writes. "And certainly Stafford is part of that argument, given he nearly knocked off the eventual Super Bowl champion Eagles ahead of his 37th birthday to close 2024. But this is a gunslinger who's also battled real bumps and bruises over the last half-decade, to the point he's openly contemplated retirement. Sean McVay's offense always has a Super Bowl ceiling with No. 9's big arm at the controls, but if Stafford can't stay upright to feed new weapons like Davante Adams, well, there could be big trouble in Los Angeles."
While Stafford is entering the 17th season of his career, he continues to be one of the game's best quarterbacks. The Rams are still in position to contend for the Super Bowl, but the opening in the window is getting very slim.
