The Los Angeles Rams saw wide receiver Davante Adams exit the Week 15 game against the Detroit Lions early due to an injury.

Adams suffered what was diagnosed as a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter and he did not return to the game. The injury was to the same hamstring that had Adams on the injury report and questionable before Sunday's game.

After the game, Rams head coach Sean McVay revealed that Adams is optimistic about his chances of playing in Week 16.

However, McVay also added that he has a hard time believing Adams will be able to play on what is a short week with the Rams playing on Thursday night.

"It didn't look good," McVay said.

"(Davante) was optimistic. He knows his body really well.... We'll see what that means. I can't imagine that's good for Thursday," McVay added.

It's not hard to say why McVay is pessimistic. Not only do the Rams have a short week, but Adams re-aggravated an existing injury.

It goes without saying that the Rams desperately need Adams to play next week, as Los Angeles draws a huge matchup against a Seattle Seahawks team that sports an elite defense.

Adding to that, the winner of that contest between Los Angeles and Seattle will take over first place in the NFC West going into Week 17, as the Rams and Seahawks are both 11-3 but the Rams currently hold the head-to-head tie-breaker.

A win for the Rams would clinch the head-to-head tie-breaker, which is the first one when determining a division winner between teams with the same record.

We'll get our next update on Adams on Monday, when the Rams release their first injury report of the week.
