The Los Angeles Chargers will play yet another game without rookie running back Omarion Hampton in Week 10 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Hampton suffered an ankle injury in the Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders and was placed on injured reserve as a result.

Hampton's injury was the second significant one the Chargers have sustained at the running back position, as the team lost Najee Harris for the season due to a torn Achilles.

So, when can the Chargers expect Hampton back? Here's what we know about his return timeline.

When is Omarion Hampton coming back?

Hampton was eligible to return from injured reserve this week after missing four games, but that did not happen.

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed that he doesn't expect Hampton to be designated to return from injured reserve until after the team's Week 12 bye.

"Jim Harbaugh said he does not expect Omarion Hampton’s activation window to be opened until after the Week 12 bye," The Athletic's Daniel Popper reported.

Knowing that, the next time we could see Hampton in action is in Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

That wasn't the only update we got on Hampton, though, as Popper also reported the rookie running back was doing work on a side field on Friday, which marks Hampton's first action in practice since his injury.

"Omarion Hampton is working off to the side today at Chargers practice. Positive sign for the rookie RB as he works his way back from an ankle injury," Popper wrote.

That's a clear sign of progress and shows that Hampton is slowly but surely making his way back.

Until he does get back, the Chargers will continue to lean heavily on Kimani Vidal.
