The NFL felt the need to step in.
The league felt that Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was putting the health of other players at risk unnecessarily.
So on Monday, the NFL announced that Perryman has been suspended for two games for what it called “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players, including during Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.”
The latest action came on Sunday in the Chargers' win over the Cowboys.
Dallas WR Ryan Flournoy made a sliding catch.
Perryman dove in helmet-first to deliver a big hit to Flournoy's head.
He was called for unnecessary roughness on the play, but the league decided it has seen enough of such plays from Perryman.
Here's what the Flournoy hit looked like:

The two-game suspension for Perryman, if it stands through any appeals process, will take him through the end of the regular season.
At this point, the Chargers are all but assured a playoff spot, so Perryman's absence won't necessarily crush them in that regard.
But it's something he's going to have to be careful about going forward, because the NFL is clearly keeping an eye on him.
