The Los Angeles Chargers have a question mark at the running back position in Week 17 and it comes in the form of Kimani Vidal.
Vidal suffered a neck injury in Week 16 that forced his early exit from the contest. He did not take part in practice on Tuesday or Wednesday before closing out the week with a limited session and drawing the questionable tag.
Ahead of an important matchup against the Houston Texans in Week 17, here's what we know about Vidal's chances of suiting up on Saturday afternoon.
Is Kimani Vidal playing tonight?
There is no official or reported word on Vidal's status for the contest against the Texans, but we would say he has a better chance to sit than play.
That's because Vidal only logged one limited practice during the week, which is a bad sign for his chances of suiting up.
We'll get final confirmation on Vidal's status at around 3 p.m. ET, when the Chargers and Texans release their list of inactives.
Kimani Vidal start or sit advice
Since rookie running back Omarion Hampton's return from injury in Week 14, Vidal's production has taken a big hit.
From Weeks 6-13, when Hampton was sidelined, Vidal ranked as RB17 overall in fantasy points per game. Since Week 14, Vidal ranks as RB48. In that same span, Hampton ranks as RB24.
This week, Vidal draws a matchup against an elite Texans defense ceding the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs this season.
Even if he is active, we wouldn't suggest Vidal as a starting option this week.
Verdict: Sit
