The Los Angeles Chargers are moving quickly toward a huge game in Week 14.
They'll play on Monday Night Football against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
It's not ideal timing for superstar quarterback Justin Herbert to be injured.
He hurt his left hand in Sunday's win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
"Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert had surgery Monday to repair a fracture in his left (non-throwing) hand," ESPN's Dan Graziano wrote on Wednesday. "He has said he plans to play Monday night against the Eagles, but we will see how much he can practice in advance of that game (if at all) and whether that will affect his performance if he does play."

Herbert came back on Sunday and played out the game with a protective covering on his left hand. He'll likely wear something on it again going forward.
Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers just started for Pittsburgh while having three fractures in his left wrist. Quarterbacks certainly can manage while having such injuries to their non-throwing hand, even if it's not ideal and potentially painful.
It could impact Herbert's ability to take snaps from under center or execute certain handoffs, but the Chargers can likely adjust to that.

It's still not ideal, though. Any limitations at all to Herbert could prove the difference in a close game against a good team, and the Chargers don't have a ton of margin for error in the playoff race.
At this point, all they can do is hope Herbert stays healthy and trust that their talented QB can make plays even with a hurting left hand.
