Chargers vs. Colts series history offers fun look at Jim Harbaugh's connection to both teams image

The Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts will square off on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in a battle between two division leaders. It will be the 32nd time the two teams have played.

The Chargers lead the all-time series 20-11 and have dominated in recent years. The Chargers have won five of the last six meetings against the Colts, with the only win for Indianapolis coming in September 2016, which they won on a late 63-yard touchdown pass from Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton.

Of course, when you talk about these two teams and you see that Jim Harbaugh is the head coach in L.A., you might think back to when he wore the No. 4 jersey for the Colts. Harbaugh played for five other teams besides the Colts (including the Chargers), but it's often his stint from 1994-97 in Indianapolis that people remember most.

Those were arguably his most successful seasons as a player. In 1995, he led the league in passer rating and made the Pro Bowl. But he was also given the nickname "Captain Comeback" with that team, which he nearly took to the Super Bowl. Watch this play and see just how close he got.

Kris Rhim of ESPN took a look back at Harbaugh's time with the Colts.

"That was like being dipped in magic waters. I say it was dipped in magic waters, because I mean there was some magical moments. There was some magic made. As a player, by far my favorite season was the '95 season", said Harbaugh.

For those who can remember that Colts team, Harbaugh had one of the more underrated seasons in NFL history, and it led to bigger things for that franchise. Harbaugh is fond of his time there, but he now looks for a season-defining win over that same Colts team.
