Chargers legend Philip Rivers makes heartfelt retirement announcement after previous Colts decision image

Philip Rivers will always be remembered as the Chargers quarterback.

Sure, he left the lightning bolt late in his career, but that's not the visual lasting in the minds of football fans everywhere.

It'll always be Rivers slinging that thing from an odd sidearm angle with incredible effectiveness for years and years in a Chargers uniform.

So it was only fitting on Monday when the Chargers released a video of Rivers choosing to retire, once and for all, after signing a quick contract with the Chargers.

"I'm Philip Rivers, quarterback, and I'm retiring as a Charger," he said in the video.

Rivers had previously left football, retiring from the Colts, but this marks a fitting conclusion to his NFL career.

The eight-time Pro Bowler finished his career with 421 passing touchdowns, 63,440 passing yards, a 64.9% completion percentage and 35 game-winning drives.

He'll always be a legend to Chargers fans.

And now, his final act as an NFL player was to retire with the Chargers.
