The Los Angeles Rams' coaching staff is filled with a ton of future head coaches, including passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase.
Scheelhaase has been with the Rams since 2024 and is in his first season as the passing game coordinator in 2025. Los Angeles' passing attack is one of the most dynamic in football, and Scheelhaase has quickly established himself as a promising up-and-coming offensive mind in the Sean McVay coaching tree.
Due to his success this season, Scheelhaase has received head coaching interest from multiple franchises, including the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, those teams were dealt some bad news on Sunday after the Rams beat the Chicago Bears in the divisional round.
With Los Angeles moving on to the NFC Championship game, Scheelhaase won't be available for second interviews this week. According to NFL rules, he must wait till after the conference championship game.
If the Rams make the Super Bowl, Scheelhaase can talk to teams during the bye week in between the big game, but can't be officially hired until after the season.
With Scheelhaase being a coveted candidate, it is incredibly detrimental to the Browns, Raiders, Ravens, and Steelers' head coaching searches that the Rams assistant coach can't do second interviews anytime soon.
We'll see if any of the teams above are willing to wait for Scheelhaase or even make him a finalist for their jobs. The NFL head coaching carousel is quickly moving, so these franchises must move quickly.
