The Las Vegas Raiders took a low-risk, high-reward path earlier this week when they signed All-Pro safety Jamal Adams.
Adams hasn't been available much in recent seasons, but he was once one of the most intimidating safeties in the NFL.
It doesn't look like Vegas plans to use Adams at safety, though.
Instead, he's working in at linebacker during training camp.
"Jamal Adams is working with the Raiders' linebackers during individual drills today," The Athletic's Tashan Reed wrote on X. "... Still with that group during team drills. Looks like that's where the coaching staff plans to use him, for now."

Adams was always comfortable around the line of scrimmage in his safety days, so maybe this isn't that surprising.
Adams most recently played five games total in 2024, split between the Titans and Lions. He played nine games in 2023 and just one in 2022.
In his eight-year NFL career (Seahawks, Jets, Titans, Lions), Adams has played in 85 games and recorded 501 tackles, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, 36 passes defensed and four interceptions.
Adams is still just 29. Maybe a position change is the way to revive his career.
