The Las Vegas Raiders have gotten off to a horrid start to the 2025 NFL season, as the team sits at 2-5 through seven weeks and have not scored more than 24 points in a game.

Las Vegas was expected to be much improved this year due to the hiring of Pete Carroll as head coach and the acquisition of Geno Smith as the new starting quarterback. However, the Raiders are once again on pace to be one of the worst squads in the league and suffer their fourth straight losing seasons.

After Sunday's blowout loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Las Vegas was shutout, Carroll gave a brutal honest admission on the Raiders' season thus far. The experienced head coach is surprised that his group is struggling as much as they are.

"I'm surprised that we're not farther along than we are," Carroll said via Paul Gutierrez of Raiders.com. "I'm trying to show that we can play really balanced football."

The Raiders are failing on both sides of the ball. The offense is averaging just 14.7 points per game and can't stop giving the ball away.

Patrick Graham's defense has also been underwhelming, as the unit is surrendering 25.7 points per game and have given up over 40 points in two different contests.

The season isn't over yet in Las Vegas. However, Carroll and his squad must turn things around sooner rather than later if they don't want to be labeled as one of the biggest dissapointments of the 2025 campaign.
