NFL cut-down is a little bit over a week away, and the Las Vegas Raiders are expected to move on from a preseason standout to get the roster down to 53 players.

The Athletic's Tashan Reed predicts wide receiver Shedrick Jackson will miss the cut in a deep Raiders receiver room.

Reed has Las Vegas keeping just five receivers, with Tommy Mellott getting the final spot.

Jackson has been terrific in the preseason. In two preseason games, the 25-year-old has caught all seven of his targets for 104 yards and a touchdown.

During the second half of the preseason opener versus the Seattle Seahawks, Jackson hauled in a 41-yard touchdown from quarterback Cam Miller, which has been the highlight of the preseason so far for Las Vegas.

If the Raiders decide to keep more than five receivers, Jackson has a chance to squeeze onto the roster. However, the position group is filled with exciting young talent, including rookies Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech, and third-year pro Tre Tucker.

Jackson has an uphill battle to earn a spot on the initial 53-man roster, but if he can turn in another electric performance in the final preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals, his chances will skyrocket ahead of cut-down day.

Either way, Jackson has definitely done enough to be on the Raiders' practice squad this season. The Auburn product could also find an opportunity elsewhere, as he's made a name for himself over the last few weeks.
