The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

The news comes from ESPN's Adam Schefter and the move comes after the Raiders' latest disastrous showing on offense in Week 12.

"Sources: Chip Kelly is out as the Raiders offensive coordinator," Schefter reported.

It isn't clear who will become the interim play-caller at the moment. This is the second coach fired on the Raiders' staff, as special teams coordinator Tom McMahon was also shown the door recently.

The Raiders hired Kelly during the offseason after making the switch at head coach from Antonio Pierce to Pete Carroll. Kelly was reportedly the highest-paid offensive coordinator in the NFL, making $6 million per season.

He was not worth a single penny of that.

While normally it would be a surprise to see an offensive coordinator get canned after just 11 games, that is not really the case in this situation.

After all, the Raiders' offense under Kelly was among the very worst in the NFL and there were very few points during this season in which the unit looked competent, let alone good.

Entering Week 12, the Raiders ranked 24th in passing yards, 31st in rushing yards and 30th in points. Then, on Sunday, the Raiders had another pathetic showing on offense by scoring just 10 points.

For a Raiders team that upgraded the quarterback position with Geno Smith and has a superstar playmaker in Brock Bowers, that is simply unacceptable.

Making matters worse, No. 6 overall pick and running back Ashton Jeanty was routinely underutilized in the offense, which was just one of several questionable personnel decisions Kelly made.

It probably won't be long before we find out who takes Kelly's place. No matter who is it, they couldn't possibly be worse than Kelly.
