The NFL's top insiders, guys like ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, need to have player agents on their side to do their jobs effectively.

Sometimes, that can create some odd social media posts that seem to be more like public relations boosts than anything else.

That's what happened with Rapoport on Tuesday. This is what he posted about Raiders linebacker Devin White on X:

There's a lot more to the story of White's season, though.

The Athletic's Ted Nguyen quoted Rapoport's tweet and wrote this: "Tackle numbers are one of the most misleading stats. He just hasn’t been good. So many blown assignments."

Another NFL writer, Cory Kinnan, added this in his own quote tweet: "Nasty agent copy and paste work here."

It's definitely a shaky look. Most followers expect Rapoport's posts to include transactional or injury news. This one is neither.

Instead, it's an out-of-the-blue post promoting the credentials of a linebacker on the Raiders that no one had been thinking about.

If Rapoport wrote posts like that all the time, it'd be one thing. But he doesn't, and so this one stands out as especially odd.
