The Las Vegas Raiders played their first game without star tight end Brock Bowers last week, as the former No. 13 overall pick sat out with a knee injury.
Bowers not suiting up was a first for his career after the Georgia product played in all 17 games during what was a historic rookie campaign.
Bowers has been dealing with the knee injury since he suffered it in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, but he clearly wasn't himself while doing so and the Raiders made the right decision to sit him last week.
On Thursday, we got our latest injury update on Bowers and it wasn't good.
Brock Bowers injury update
The Raiders have not released their injury report as of this writing, but we do know that Bowers was not spotted at practice on Thursday, according to Jesse Merrick of the Silver and Black Sports Network.
"Raiders TE Brock Bowers still isn't out here for practice today," Merrick reported. "The Raiders are taking it slow with him."
Raiders head coach Pete Carroll Carroll did change his tune a bit this week when it comes to Bowers' outlook, as Carroll called Bowers "day-to-day" after labeling Bowers "week-to-week" last week.
While it doesn't look like Bowers is going to suit up, the "day-to-day" label gives him a chance to play in Week 7. If he doesn't the next time we could see Bowers will be Week 9, as the Raiders have a bye in Week 8
On Oct. 5, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Bowers is dealing with a PCL injury and bone bruise "that has impacted his performance" and Schefter added that "doctors have said the only way to recover from the knee injuries he suffered on opening day vs. the Patriots is to rest, which Bowers has been unwilling to do."
Given the fact that he has missed five practices in a row, Bowers is now getting the rest he needs and hopefully that will help him get back to 100% and back on the field for Las Vegas soon.
