Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has missed the past two games due to a shoulder injury, but he appears on track to return in Week 4.
Worthy failed to turn in a full practice in each of the past two weeks after suffering a torn labrum in Week 1 following a collision with teammate and tight end Travis Kelce.
But there was a major update on Worthy's status on Wednesday after practice. Now, it looks like the former first-round pick is slated to suit up this Sunday.
Xavier Worthy injury update
According to the Chiefs' injury report on Wednesday, Worthy was a full participant, marking the first time he has practiced without limitations since his injury.
That is a strong sign that, barring any setbacks, Worthy will make his return to the field in Week 4 for a huge matchup against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead.
But Worthy will do so likely at less than 100% and while wearing a harness to give some extra protection to his shoulder.
The concern is that Worthy could aggravate the injury, and at the very least his catching, blocking and ability to take a hit might be impacted.
Worthy's return is huge for Chiefs
Worthy's return is huge for Kansas City.
After all, the team was very short-handed at wide receiver thanks to Rashee Rice's suspension and the Chiefs desperately need a spark on offense, something Worthy can definitely provide with his explosive play-making ability.
Through three games, the Chiefs' passing attack ranks 15th, and the offense as a whole is scoring 20 points per game, tied for 20th.
If Worthy can stay healthy, the Chiefs will really be in business once Rice gets back in Week 7.
