Xavier Worthy 40 time: Why fast Chiefs WR has Taylor Swift excited about his record speed image

There's no one faster than Xavier Worthy.

At least not in the NFL. At least not by 40-yard dash measurement. The Kansas City Chiefs WR stands alone.

He holds the NFL Combine record in the 40-yard dash, and entering his second season with the Chiefs, he's as important as ever.

Kansas City will be without Rashee Rice for six games due to suspension. Worthy is going to have to be at his best right from the start of the season.

Xavier Worthy 40 time

Xavier Worthy set an NFL Combine record by running a 4.21-second 40-yard dash in March 2024.

He broke a record previously held by John Ross from 2017.

He still holds that record through the 2025 NFL Combine, which featured a fastest time of 4.28 seconds by new Bills cornerback Maxwell Hairston.

Worthy's speed made an impact in February's Super Bowl, when he went deep to catch a 50-yard touchdown from Patrick Mahomes.

What did Taylor Swift say about Xavier Worthy?

In her recent appearance on the Kelce brothers' New Heights podcast, pop superstar Taylor Swift told the story of how excited she was when the Chiefs drafted Worthy.

"I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy,' and my friends were like, 'Who body snatched you?'" Swift said. "... I was screeching. I couldn't believe it."

Xavier Worthy stats

Worthy put together a strong rookie season in 2024.

He finished with 59 catches for 638 yards (10.8 yards per reception) and six touchdowns.

Worthy also ran 20 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yards per rushing attempt and 6.1 rushing yards per game in addition to his receiving duties.

He'll have a great chance to best all these numbers in year two.
