The Kansas City Chiefs didn't want to be in this situation.
They began the season with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback and the permanent Super Bowl aspirations that come with that.
Mahomes tore his ACL a couple weeks ago, which meant Gardner Minshew started last week.
But then Minshew got hurt, too.
Now it's Chris Oladokun getting the start in Week 17 on Christmas night for the Chiefs against the Denver Broncos.

Why is Chris Oladokun playing QB for Chiefs, not Patrick Mahomes or Gardner Minshew?
This one, as laid out above, is all about the injuries.
Mahomes is out for the season.
Minshew is out at least for now.
That leaves the guy who was on the practice squad most of the season, Oladokun.
He will be backed up by Shane Buechele, who only signed from the Buffalo Bills' practice squad earlier this week.
The Chiefs will be going up against a fierce Broncos defense. This could be tough.
