Travis Kelce gets $10-20 million contract rumor, but not from the Chiefs image

Travis Kelce's future is in his hands.

The Kansas City Chiefs' legendary tight end could choose to retire after a disastrous 2025 season for K.C., or he could opt to run it back in the hopes that Patrick Mahomes gets healthy and that the Chiefs can bounce back in 2026.

Of course, there are permutations beyond just those two options.

If Kelce comes back to play some more, he could always sign a contract elsewhere, even if that seems wildly unlikely.

In retirement, he also has different paths he could follow. One of those paths: broadcasting.

The Athletic's Andrew Marchand spoke recently on his podcast about that possibility.

“I think Travis Kelce is one who, if he retires, definitely could do TV,” Marchand said. “I think he wants to do games, so that’s one to watch.”

Kelce would command a hefty payday to do the job, too.

“He’s a guy who is only going to take a No. 1 job, to me,” Marchand said. “He’s going to get anywhere from $10 to 20 million (per year), because he’s Travis Kelce.”

Kelce's name would certainly add attention to any broadcast, helped by the fact that in June, he's marrying pop superstar Taylor Swift.

With the NFL spread across a wide variety of broadcasters, there are lots of spots that could potentially come open to add Kelce to the team.

He surely already has some idea of interest from the broadcasting realm, and it will likely factor into his to-retire-or-not decision in one way or another.

And even if Kelce comes back, it doesn't close off the door to being a commentator. It would just push it down the road a bit.
