Pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce have announced their engagement on social media.

The announcement was made in a post to Swift's Instagram story, which included two photos of the pair, one of which saw Kelce getting down on one knee to propose.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Swift wrote in the post.

The announcement comes about two years after the couple first started dating and became the most notable couple on the planet thanks to their respective popularities.

Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift relationship timeline

Kelce first expressed an interest in Swift on his podcast following her concert in the Chiefs' home stadium in July 2023, a performance he was in attendance for.

Then, Swift was spotted at the first of many Chiefs games she has attended in September of that year, which sparked rumors they were dating.

Swift has since been a pretty regular fixture at Chiefs games, much to the chagrin of some NFL fans who have been frustrated with the amount of screen time she gets during games.

Kelce has also supported Swift's career, even making an appearance on stage at one of her concerts. More recently, Swift made her first appearance on Kelce's "New Heights" podcast that he hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce.

Swift revealed her new album during the episode and the live stream of it broke the record for the most concurrent viewers on a podcast on YouTube after reaching 1.3 million viewers at one point, according to Guinness.

Kelce is gearing up for his 13th NFL season and it could be his last.
