The Kansas City Chiefs are still trying to recover after the overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts, but the schedule gods don't care.
With the Dallas Cowboys up on Thanksgiving, the Chiefs don't have a lot of time between games, and players have come into the building banged up and sore. But that is part and parcel of NFL football, and especially at this time of year, everyone has something.
And for the Chiefs, yes, the win over the Colts was huge, but attention now turns to Dallas. That means getting back on the practice field, in the film room and preparing for a monster game.
As for Patrick Mahomes, seeing his teammates come into the facility when they are banged up and sore, trying to get right before the Cowboys game, it's a testament to the mentality of the group.
"I think it speaks to the people that we have in this locker room," Mahomes said. "They want to win, and they want to leave it all out there. Everybody's banged up at this time of the year, but you have to be able to fight through that and play your best football.
"I'm proud of the guys and how they responded, an adverse moment, and we'll keep building on that going into this week."

Chiefs' season on the line vs. Dallas
It is going to be like this for Kansas City for the rest of the season, given the poor start from Andy Reid's team.
At 6-5 and on the outside looking in at the playoff picture, every win is like gold for the Chiefs if they are to make the postseason.
And the Cowboys game is going to be a big test mentally and physically for Kansas City, but it's one that this team has experience in, and no doubt the locker room will be leaning on each other to get through what is going to be a tough game.
The entire locker room is sore, but the NFL waits for no one, and the Chiefs will need to push beyond their limits to keep their season alive against the Cowboys.
It was a good win last week; now, on a short week, the Chiefs have to go again.
