Patrick Mahomes makes first public comment since knee injury in Chiefs' loss image

Just hours after suffering what could be a season-ending injury, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted to social media on Sunday evening.

Mahomes suffered his knee injury in the fourth quarter of the Week 15 loss and it appeared that the Chiefs superstar had suffered something significant, as he was clearly in a lot of pain and stayed on the field for an extended period of time.

Making it look worse, Mahomes needed help getting to the locker room, as he could not put any weight on his knee.

Mahomes took to social media following the game and said this:

"Don’t know why this had to happen. And not going to lie it hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again," Mahomes said. "Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I Will be back stronger than ever."

By the looks of that message, it doesn't sound like Mahomes is going to be back this season, but we continue to hope that is not the case.

When asked about Mahomes' injury following the loss to the Chargers, head coach Andy Reid admitted that "it didn't look good" for Mahomes, but the quarterback is going to have an MRI on Sunday night or Monday to determine the severity.

Kansas City is now eliminated from playoff contention, so it doesn't really matter if Mahomes can make it back this season.

The bigger concern is if Mahomes has sustained something significant enough that it could threaten his availability for the start of next season.
