Did Patrick Mahomes get hurt? Explaining Chiefs QB's injury worries after SNF loss to Texans image

The Kansas City Chiefs are in big trouble.

Their Sunday night loss to the Houston Texans has dropped them to 6-7. They've never lost seven games in a regular season with Patrick Mahomes before. And speaking of Mahomes: He didn't seem to be his usual self in primetime.

There were moments when Mahomes was limping around. He threw interceptions and incompletions and struggled to piece any drives together.

Chiefs fans are worried about their QB as their season crumbles around them.

Did Patrick Mahomes get hurt?

Mahomes may already have been hurt even before Sunday night.

He was on the injury report with what was denoted as a knee injury throughout Week 14, although he was a full participant in practice each day.

Midway through Sunday's game, though, it became apparent that Mahomes was putting a heating pad on his left knee between drives.

That did add to the optics that Mahomes appeared to be limping around after a few different hits.

NFL injury reports don't specify which knee is injured, so there's no way to know for sure whether the issue Mahomes was dealing with Sunday night is the same thing that had been marked during the week.

But he certainly doesn't appear to be 100%.

Mahomes didn't miss any plays Sunday, leaving his backup Gardner Minshew watching on the sideline as Mahomes kept scampering for first downs and trying to will the Chiefs to victory. It's something to keep an eye on going forward, though. If Kansas City wants any hope of a miracle to get to the postseason, it'll need Mahomes on the field to pull it off.
