Did Andy Reid punch Travis Kelce? What happened with Chiefs' TE, head coach in viral sideline exchange image

The Kansas City Chiefs finally got a win on Sunday night. They handled the New York Giants to dig out of their 0-2 start to the season.

Not everything was perfect, though. Midway through the first half, legendary tight end Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid got into a spat on the sideline.

Because Kelce is Kelce, and the Chiefs are the Chiefs, the interaction quickly went viral on social media.

Did Andy Reid punch Travis Kelce?

No, Andy Reid didn't punch Travis Kelce.

He did give him a hefty chest bump, though.

In his halftime interview with NBC's Melissa Stark, Reid said, "We need some juice. So that's good."

And then after the game, he said, "That guy's all in. Just sometimes I have to play policeman."

Why did Travis Kelce and Andy Reid fight?

The Chiefs got off to a very slow start offensively against the Giants. Kelce was invisible for most of the first half.

Their spat actually came after his first two catches, though.

Patrick Mahomes hit Kelce for a first down to extend a drive, but then the next completion was a screen wide to the left where Kelce couldn't get by a defensive back while outnumbered 2-to-1 and was brought down for no gain.

It's right after that play that Kelce came off the field and began feuding with Reid.
