Xavier Worthy's season didn't start how he wanted.

On just the third snap, the Kansas City Chiefs' speedy wide receiver collided with Travis Kelce, leading to a shoulder injury and a departure from Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, not to return. The Chiefs lost the game, too, making it worse.

That makes Worthy's status a big deal heading into Week 2's Super Bowl rematch with the champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Head coach Andy Reid beat reporters to the question on Monday. He provided this update on Worthy in his opening statement:

“So, as far as the injuries go, I know Xavier’s going to be the big question,” head coach Andy Reid told reporters in his Monday press conference. “He’s rehabbing and working his shoulder, we’ll just see where it goes. Day-by-day here, see where we end up.”

Worthy's status will remain a point of interest all week as the Chiefs ramp back up after their return from Brazil.

With him out Friday, Hollywood Brown had 10 catches for 99 yards, and JuJu Smith-Schuter added five catches for 55 yards.

The Chiefs will also be hoping to get rookie wide receiver Jalen Royals back after he missed Week 1 with a knee injury.

“Jalen’s doing a good job with his rehab,” Reid told reporters. “Again, we’ll just see how that ends up this week. We’ve got a couple days here that we’ve had, so guys are making good progress in that. We’ll see. If neither play, we’ve got the guys we played with the other night that are good football players.”

It's a huge matchup against the Eagles, and it's even bigger for the Chiefs after starting 0-1. They need to get as healthy as can be.
