The Kansas City Chiefs (5-5) find themselves sitting at.500 following their latest loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 11.
The Chiefs were staked to a 19-16 lead with six and a half minutes remaining in the game but couldn't put it away. The Broncos notched field goals on their final two drives to secure the 22-19 win.
Kansas City has now lost two straight games and finds itself in a precarious spot in terms of playoff positioning.
The Chiefs will enter Week 12 in the No. 9 spot in the AFC playoff picture and four back of the Broncos in the win column in the AFC West.
When it comes to the Chiefs' standing in the NFL power rankings of experts going into Week 12, Kansas City is about as low as we can ever remember them being in the Patrick Mahomes era.
Chiefs Week 12 NFL power rankings
Vinnie Iyer, AllSportsPeople: 16 (-4)
Iyer: "The Chiefs don't need to be in full panic mode yet, but they can probably say good bye to their shot at 10 consecutive division titles and may need to run the table, starting with the mighty Colts in Week 12, just to ensure a wild card."
Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic: 18 (-5)
Cluff: "The Chiefs are now 5-5, behind the 9-2 Broncos and 7-4 Chargers in the AFC West. Could Kansas City's reign in the division be ending?"
Matt Johnson, Sportsnaut: 14 (-6)
Johnson: "At some point, you just have to acknowledge the 5-5 record instead of the name. If the NFL Playoffs started today, the Chiefs wouldn’t be in it. To make matters worse, the.500 record comes before they have to take on the nine-win Indianapolis Colts. There’s also still a rematch versus Denver later this season and we wouldn’t rule out the Texans beating Kansas City in Week 14. There’s a very realistic chance we’ll be looking at a 10-7 Chiefs team that barely sneaks into the playoffs when the regular season ends."
