The Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season was dealt yet another crushing blow in Week 14 after Patrick Mahomes and Co. Lost to the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

It was a strange game, to say the least. The Texans looked to be firmly in control in the first half before the Chiefs surged on both sides of the ball in the third quarter.

However, the Texans regained control of the game in the fourth quarter thanks to a few successful drives on offense and a suffocating defense that got a helping hand from some key Chiefs drops in the passing game.

With their Week 14 result in the books, here's an updated look at Kansas City's playoffs chances.

Chiefs' updated playoff chances

With the loss, the Chiefs' playoffs hopes are on life support.

When it comes to the AFC West, the Chiefs are mathematically eliminated with their loss combined with the Denver Broncos' win over the Las Vegas Raiders, which means Kansas City's streak of nine-straight division titles is now over.

According to the New York Times Playoff Simulator, Kansas City has a 16% chance to make the postseason as it sits in the No. 10 spot in the conference.

In order to make the postseason now, the Chiefs will have to win the rest of their games AND will need teams in front of them to lose some games.

If Kansas City fails to make the playoffs, it would be the first time the franchise has fallen short since all the way back in 2014, when head coach Andy Reid was in his second season with the team.

Kansas City will look to start climbing the mountain to get to the playoffs in a Week 15 battle against the Los Angeles Chargers at home.
