Chiefs' Travis Kelce retirement plans get major update with Eric Bieniemy hiring image

Travis Kelce's chances of returning to the Kansas City Chiefs appear to be rising.

The 36-year old tight end is a retirement candidate heading into an offseason that will include his wedding to Taylor Swift in June. But recent developments may be keeping Kelce in the NFL.

The key: The Chiefs have hired Eric Bieniemy back to be their offensive coordinator after a few seasons away.

Kelce expressed on his New Heights podcast early in the week that he was "excited to see (Bieniemy) back in the building.

And now the Daily Mail is reporting that this news could keep Kelce playing.

"Daily Mail understands the return of popular offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy to Arrowhead Stadium has fueled Kelce's excitement to lace up his cleats again," they wrote in a new article.

A source added to the Daily Mail: "Travis is very excited that Eric Bieniemy is coming back to the Chiefs as offensive coordinator as it will jolt the team's offense back to their glory days."

The Chiefs are likely all hoping that Bieniemy's return adds a jolt.

Kansas City let Matt Nagy go from the OC role to bring back Bieniemy, who was most recently the running backs coach for the Chicago Bears.

The Chiefs had multiple top-five offenses under Bieniemy, partially when Kelce and Tyreek Hill were tormenting defenses together.

The season ahead has plenty of uncertainty beyond Kelce, starting with Patrick Mahomes' recovery from a torn ACL.

But it'd certainly be exciting news for the Chiefs to bring Kelce back for one more year to keep his legendary career going.
