Chiefs' Travis Kelce retirement lean revealed by insider image

Travis Kelce hasn't made a retirement decision yet.

But it may be coming soon for the Kansas City Chiefs' legendary tight end, who recently completed his age-36 season in the NFL.

The Daily Mail has reported that Kelce is leaning toward a return for another year.

The reasoning includes Philip Rivers, Patrick Mahomes and a Super Bowl chase.

"He took the end of this season in his stride and, if it is his last, he will be content with it," The Daily Mail attributed to a source. "But he also saw Philip Rivers come back and saw the fun he had with one more go around. So he would like to run it back one more time with a healthy Patrick Mahomes and a strong team to give it one more go to reach the Super Bowl."

The Chiefs are coming off their worst season in Kelce's career.

They went 6-11 and were eliminated from the playoffs with multiple weeks still to go.

They also lost Mahomes to a torn ACL that threatens his availability for Week 1 of the 2026 season.

That being said, Kelce was already frustrated with the Super Bowl blowout loss to the Eagles last February. A 6-11 season likely didn't cheer him up.
