The Kansas City Chiefs cut ties with a receiver in November after keeping him around for more than three years.
Now, in the UFL, that wideout is making a case he belongs in the NFL.
The WR in question is Cornell Powell. Kansas City took him in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Powell spent three seasons bouncing between the Chiefs' practice squad and active roster, but he never caught a pass in a regular season game before his November 2024 release.
Now, Powell is shining for the D.C. Defenders in the spring football league.
Powell has 29 catches for 418 yards and five touchdowns in UFL action through nine games.

A former star at Clemson, Powell measures up at 6-feet tall and 204 pounds.
He'll turn 28 years old at the end of October, so Powell still has some football future left.
The Chiefs have a habit of turning receivers into successes no matter where they come from, but Powell could also impress any of the other 31 teams in the NFL to earn another shot in the big leagues for the 2025 season.
Right now, Powell is doing everything he can with the situation he's in.
