Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes reacts to sour day vs. Chargers with viral social media post image

The Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season is over with a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, which will see no playoffs for the AFC franchise for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Speaking of Patrick, this is where the news gets even worse for Chiefs Kingdom.

With Kansas City down three with under two minutes left, Mahomes tried to extend a play, hurt his left knee, and was seen holding it on the ground in pain.

That would be the last we saw from No. 15, as he hobbled down the tunnel and into the locker room.

Head coach Andy Reid stated post-game that it "didn't look good" and that Patrick would be getting an MRI on his knee.

And Mahomes has taken to X to share his thoughts on what was an all-around horror day for the Chiefs.

"Don’t know why this had to happen," Mahomes wrote. "And not going to lie it’s hurts. But all we can do now is Trust in God and attack every single day over and over again. Thank you Chiefs kingdom for always supporting me and for everyone who has reached out and sent prayers. I Will be back stronger than ever."

Will Mahomes be playing again in 2025?

Given that the Chiefs are out of playoff contention and there are only three games left and nothing to play for, it is a good bet that we won't see Patrick again this season.

Granted, we have to see the extent of his injury to his left knee, but you will be hard-pressed to find anyone who thinks it will be a good idea for No. 15 to see the field again this season.

It was the worst way to go out for the Chiefs, who now, for the first time in the Mahomes era, will be watching the playoffs from the couch.

Mahomes stating he'll be back stronger than ever might hint at the extent of the damage to his knee, but we'll wait to see exactly what it is as the Chiefs' season ended with three weeks left in the year.
