Chiefs give Patrick Mahomes 36 TD weapon in latest mock draft image

One could argue that one of the Kansas City Chiefs' biggest offensive issues in 2025 was the lack of a strong running game.

Yes, the offensive line could have been seen as No. 1, but Patrick Mahomes didn't have anyone who could scare a defense out of the backfield.

Both Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt are plodders and aren't hit 70-yard home run hitters.

Holding the No. 9 overall pick, the Chiefs have nearly the entire draft board at their disposal and could go in any direction they want.

For PFF's Max Chadwick, in his latest mock draft, he has the Chiefs selecting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Is Love what Kansas City needs?

Posting over 1,000 rushing yards and 35 touchdowns in his last two seasons, the production is what the Chiefs need.

Plus, his speed, agility, and explosiveness are all traits the Chiefs need in their run game.

Could he be a Week 1 starter? Maybe, but it is likely the Chiefs keep around one of Pacheco or Hunt.

So, Love could be the change-up in 2026 before taking the No. 1 mantle in 2027.

The offense had a host of issues, but just 106.6 rushing yards per game was a big hindrance to Mahomes and Co.

Getting Love might go a long way to rectifying that.
