Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt was the very definition of a bellcow on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chiefs ran a total of 90 plays, and 30 of them were Hunt carries as he wore down the Colts' defensive front to the tune of 104 yards and a touchdown.

That is a little eyebrow-raising, given Hunt, prior to Week 12, didn't have any more than 13 carries in a game, so it is new for him, at least this season, and now, the Dallas Cowboys come into view on Thursday, so the Chiefs have a really short week because of travel.

That means recovery is the name of the game right now, but how does Hunt make sure he recovers so he is in great shape on Thanksgiving?

"Sleep, a smiling Hunt said. "I mean, get in a cold tub, massage, stuff like that."

Chiefs face mental and physical challenge vs. Cowboys

Facing up on a normal short week is tough, but even more so when the Chiefs went into overtime the week before, plus losing a day due to the travel component.

So as much as it will be a physical battle for Kansas City, the mental aspect of it as well will take its toll.

But this team has been through just about everything you can think of over the past couple of years, so a short week isn't likely to bother them. Granted, the Cowboys will be a little more rested and coming off a stirring win over the Philadelphia Eagles, and are at home, so the Chiefs will be up against it.

However, you would be a fool to bet against this Chiefs team with their season on the line.

Short week or no short week, Kansas City will be ready to roll on Thursday.
