Chiefs named ideal landing spot for Seahawks projected $29 million pending free agent image

The Kansas City Chiefs should be in the market for a running back this coming offseason.

Kansas City's rushing attack struggled badly in 2025, with the Chiefs ranking 23rd in rushing yards per game and Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco both averaging under four yards per carry.

The Chiefs' offensive line was no doubt part of the problem, with the unit ranking 23rd in run-block win rate, but Kansas City could simply use a more explosive running back to provide a much-needed jolt to the offense.

That's why Bleacher Report's Alex Kay suggested the Chiefs as an ideal landing spot for Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker, who Kay projects will land a contract worth $29 million over three years in free agency this offseason.

If a squad like the Kansas City Chiefs can find a way to free up enough cap space to offer Walker a market value deal, he could be in line for a career year. Their running game cratered in 2025, and it's become clear that no one on the roster is capable of carrying a backfield.

While it remains to be seen if the Seahawks want to bring Walker back, it's possible he will be looking for a new home instead of returning to Seattle, where Walker is forced into an almost even split with Zach Charbonnet.

That wouldn't be a problem in Kansas City, where the Chiefs can offer Walker a clear-cut lead role with both Hunt and Pacheco set to be free agents.

Walker would be perfect for what the Chiefs need, as he's a home-run threat from anywhere on the field whenever the ball is in his hands, both as a rusher and pass-catcher, and is capable of taking games over and taking a ton of pressure off quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

If given more work, Walker has the potential for elite production, and if he can hit that ceiling he'd be a bargain at the aforementioned contract.

The Chiefs will have to move some money around to make it work financially, but considering their dire need at the running back position, they should do what they can to bring in an explosive upgrade like Walker.
